Tracy J Thomas - NEM Founder Artist

I am a professional photographer, published writer, workshop instructor and online class developer who has experienced a full on obsession with my iPhone.

I have my M.F.A. in documentary photography from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco and my M.A. from the University of San Francisco.

I adore the freedom my iPhone provides. It allows me to capture the moments I might miss in the time it takes me to set up my Canon DSLR. Even more, I adore the Apps on my iPhone that provide me the freedom of expression and give wings to the whimsical, sometimes bizarre and oft-times humorous alter-ego buried deep inside my soul. I find myself most often creating alternate realities through the photomontage process. My iPhone photography is the Yang to the Yin of my more serious "big girl camera" documentary photography work.

My iPhone photographs have appeared in numerous exhibits including the LA Mobile Arts Festival, Rebekah Jacob Gallery, The Lunch Box Gallery, Digital Arts: California, Overpass Gallery, Nuovo Film Studio, Orange Gallery, and Gallery 1075. Most recently I had the honor of receiving two Honorable Mentions in the Mobile Photography Awards in the Visual FX and People/Portraits categories. One of my pieces "Illuminati" is also a finalist in Digital Photo Pro magazine's Emerging Pro Photography Competition in the category of Fine Art.

I have been Artist of the Day on several occasions at iPhoneart.com and my work has been featured on the iPhoneography Central, Pixels, The App Whisperer, and Life in Lofi websites.
