"Self" by Lorenka Campos
Lorenka Campos - United States
I currently live in Gainesville, Florida and studied the visual arts at Florida School of the Arts. When attending art school, I realized my love for photography, and especially portraits. Developing photos in the darkroom felt like a magic show every time and I especially liked to alter the images with various darkroom techniques. I also dabbled a little in graphic design and photoshop.
My love for mobile photography developed quickly after getting my first iPhone in 2010. I quickly gave up my clunky cameras and desktop photoshop to work exclusively on my iPhone and had my first mobile art gallery showing in 2011.
I tend to work in the form of series, but also on various bodies of work concurrently. In my art I include many blended, drawn and superimposed images. I also include photos of things I have made, origami dresses being one my favorites.
My art work is very personal and I love to tell a story with my images. The stories I tell are sometimes very melancholy and dark, but at other times, childlike and whimsical. Either way, I like to think of my art as lyrical and dreamy, whether it's sad or hopeful.
